How To Choose A New Dentist

1.Get a Referral

If you are moving to a new city or even to a new community within your current city, ask your Dentist if they can recommend a new dentist for you. Your current dentist knows your teeth better than you do and they can be helpful in giving you a good referral.

2.Do Some Research

It’s important to do some basic research before visiting a new doctor. Maybe you have friends or family that have been to this dentist and can give you some word-of-mouth advice. You may also use the internet to read some reviews. However, remember to take everything you read on the internet with a grain of salt.

3.Evaluate the Logistics

Once you’ve found a dentist and an office that you are interested in, it’s time to figure out the logistics. How long would it take you to get to the office? Is there parking available? What are their hours of operation? Do they offer payment plans if you don’t have insurance? What is their booking system process? Remember, these are all things can can and will influence your overall experience.

4.Place a Call

Call the office to see if they are accepting new patients. You can also use this time to ask some of your questions and figure out some of those logistics. Was the receptionist friendly? Did you feel welcomed? Use your judgment if it seems like a good fit for you or not.

5.Pay a Visit

Once you’ve finished these preliminary steps, it’s time for your first visit. Book a consultation appointment to meet with the doctor. Ask them anything else you need clarification on. If it feels right, go ahead and book your next appointment.
