Sore Jaw Connected to Poor Posture

Sore Jaw Connected to Poor Posture

Posture has long been associated with headaches and backaches, and may also cause stress to your jaw joint. This is due to the poor spinal position from your posture.
Your jaw can close in two different ways:
  1. Closing position determined by where upper and lower teeth meet.
  2. Closing position determined by jaw muscles.
With poor posture and a hunched spine, the lower jaw has a tendency to move forward. Additionally, the skull will move back on top of the highest bone of the spinal column. Both movements can cause stress on the joint, bones and muscles leading to a sore jaw.
Some bodies are able to adapt to changes in posture. But for those that can’t, the stress may result in headaches, backaches, and jaw pain.
The team at Signal Hill Dental Centre has the knowledge and a range in corrective techniques to eliminate this problems. Should you notice any discomfort or pain in your jaw joints, feel free to contact the clinic for a consultation.
