Do Water Piks Maintain Good Oral Health?

There are many devices out on the market that you could choose to maintain your oral health. Water Piks are one of many products that you could choose, however how useful are they? Can you just use a Water Piks without having the need to brush?

Water Piks and other oral irrigating devices are useful for loosening food debris around the teeth, or partial dentures and bridges. The forced water spray helps clean orthodontic braces that trap food.

Although, be aware that Water Piks do not remove plaque and tartar and so should never be considered a substitute for brushing. You may want to consider an electric or ultrasonic toothbrush. These enable a more thorough cleaning for people who have little manual dexterity or simply prefer an electric method.

Should you decide to buy an oral irrigating device, there are two types:

1) Self-Contained Pump

2) Attaches Directly to Faucet

Ask the team at Signal Hill Dental Centre to recommend a pressure setting and frequency of use, or general recommendations with Water Piks.
